Quick Verdict
This is one of the easiest waxes I’ve ever used. It looks fantastic straight after use, but I found that it doesn’t last that long. We’re talking weeks at best.
If you want quick shine with zero effort, you’ll like it, maybe even love it. If you want longer lasting protection, this isn’t it.

First Impressions
First thing you notice is the smell. Straight up banana sweets, and it’s not subtle either. The texture is more like a creamy lotion than a proper wax. Almost feels too thin at first, like it’s not going to do much.
The bottle and branding is classic Chemical Guys, looks good, but also feels a bit “marketing heavy”.
Chemical Guys market this as a “deep wet shine” carnauba wax, and that’s pretty much the angle they lean on. In reality, it’s a liquid carnauba wax built to be quick and easy. It spreads fast, wipes off without effort, and doesn’t need much thinking. You’re not dealing with cure times or anything fussy.
And to be fair, it does exactly that.
This isn’t trying to compete with ceramics or long-term sealants. It’s more of a show wax or a quick top-up when you want the car looking good without committing to a full protection job.
How I Used It
I tested this on my Kia EV3 (my daily driver). It hadn’t been waxed for a couple of months, so it wasn’t in perfect condition but clean enough to see what the wax could actually do.
The car got a proper wash beforehand, but no polishing or correction work. Just clean paint, nothing fancy. I applied it by hand using a foam applicator (I actually used the Chemical Guys Hex Logic, which is often my goto), working one panel at a time, I then buffed it off with a microfibre towel (Pure Definition Edgeless).
I tried it two ways. First as a straight wipe on, wipe off with no cure time at all. Then again letting it sit for about 30 to 60 seconds to see if a slight haze made any difference when removing it.
Weather was pretty normal. Not too hot, not too cold. So no excuses either way.
What Happened
Application is stupidly easy. It just glides on with no resistance at all. No drag, no effort. It genuinely feels more like spreading lotion than working a wax into the paint.
You also don’t need much product. A small amount goes a long way, which surprised me a bit considering how thin it feels.
Buffing it off is even easier. There’s no streaking, no grabbing, and you’re not fighting the towel at any point. It just wipes away clean. Honestly, it’s one of the easiest waxes I’ve removed. Even a soft, plush microfibre handles it without any issues.
Now the finish is where it really shows up.
You get that proper gloss straight away. It’s got that wet look to it, almost like the paint is still liquid. I still need to test it, but imagine even more so on darker. it really pops and looks fresh.
You step back, have a quick look at the car, and yeah… it does look good.

Results Over Time
This is where things start to fall off a bit.
Straight after applying it, everything looks spot on. Water behaviour is good, you get nice tight beading, and the paint feels slick to the touch. It gives you that “just detailed” feeling.
But give it a week or two, especially on a daily driver, and you start to notice it dropping off. The slickness fades, the beading isn’t as sharp, and it just doesn’t have that same fresh look.
From what we’ve seen, and what a lot of other people report as well, durability is short. You’re looking at a couple of weeks realistically, maybe pushing a month if conditions are kind and the car isn’t getting hammered.
So yeah… this isn’t something you apply and forget about. If you’re expecting long-term protection, this isn’t the one.
What I Liked
- Insanely easy to apply
- Even easier to remove
- Looks properly glossy and wet
- Smells great (if you like banana sweets)
- Can use it quickly without overthinking
- Good for topping other products
What I Didn’t Like
- Durability is weak
- Doesn’t hold up to regular washing
- Protection is minimal
- Feels more cosmetic than functional
- Price doesn’t really match performance vs better options
How It Compares
Against Meguiar’s Ultimate Liquid Wax, the difference is pretty clear. Meguiar’s just lasts longer. You’re talking months instead of weeks, and it gives you proper protection. But it’s not as quick or effortless to use. Butter Wet Wax wins on ease, no question, but loses on staying power.
Compared to something like Collinite or other proper paste waxes, it’s the same story but even more obvious. Those waxes take more effort to apply and remove, but they absolutely destroy this on durability. If you care about long-term protection, they’re in a different league.
Up against spray waxes or ceramic sprays, Butter Wet Wax feels a bit stuck in the middle. It takes longer to use and doesn’t last as long as most modern sprays. But… it does give a nicer, warmer gloss. That classic wet look is still hard to beat.
Who It’s For
This makes the most sense if you just want quick results. If you like topping up your car after a wash, or you’re getting it ready for something and want it looking sharp fast, this fits perfectly. It’s also a good shout if you already have a base layer down and just want to add a bit of extra gloss on top without messing with it.
It’s probably not for you if you’re chasing durability. If you want something you can apply and forget about for a few months, or you don’t like reapplying products often, this will get annoying pretty quickly. Same goes if you expect one product to handle both shine and long-term protection, this isn’t built for that.
Final Verdict
I actually get why people like this. It’s fun to use. It makes your car look great. And it takes barely any effort. But being honest, this isn’t a serious protection product.
I’ll definitely be using this again, just not a main wax. More as something I’d reach for when I want the car looking sharp quickly, like before a meet or after a wash when I can’t be bothered doing a full protection layer. It’s that kind of product.
If you go in expecting that, you won’t be disappointed.
